"I'm from the South Western Township, where we get down Kid" thats what you hear when you listen to energetic Mic holder going by the Name 'Pro-kid', where he just goes off on this track, the backdrop set up by trumpets and thumping african drums. you also gotta love the vibe 'Wozobona' the venac filled track gives, I felt that . Well this is not a review but plug for the hip hop from South Africa that I have managed to get this past year and some old material I had, a sort of mixtape..not definitve though. I got Legends on there, Prophets of the city(POC), which is actually one the first hip hop groups from S.A. that I heard, I wanted to put Goddessa on there too but the CD I had got lost.
One of my Favorite and the best emcee's I have heard in recent years, Tumi, makes several appreances on the radio blog,I'm partial to him can you tell? Cashless Society 'Hottentot hop', that mix of the elctronic guitar is killer it meshes seamlessly with the beat. One of the best Beatmakers that you have not heard makes showing too peep the Nyambz Instrumental.Zubz the last letter also drops some serious heat when he does a partial cover to 'Steve Makoni’s' Shona classic 'Handiende', a track that the INCREDIBLE!!! Oliver Mutukudzi(ahh damn!!!He deserves his own post) did a cover to ( Izz lemmie find out you are sleeping on this man). Emcee Nel makes an appreance too and proves she can hold more than her own behind the Mic. Proverb shows some serious Mic skills with 'Microphone Sweet Home', nice track.I had to share one of the dopest cuts I have heard this whole year 'Moonson Season' by Caliz, storytelling and Introspection at its finest, its off Hiphocalypse re-mixtape (What up! Tate!).
