Down with the ELITIST mentality
Over the past few days during my many virtual travels on the many message boards and sites I visit, I happened to bump into a number of elitist sounding- type whinny ass characters.... I mean how much bitching can you do about how hip hop has sunken, has died, stinks, blah blah, nostalgia is good but you have to realize the world does not stand still and people do evolve, environments do change. We can't stick in 85 ,89 or 94 forever.
This group irks me as much as the "sheeple" people liking records/albums primarily because Mtv, Radio one,Capital, Kiss or whatever media controls your airwaves, Bet (I heard they blacklisted artists that do not appeal to their age range what sort of mess is this? How the hell you say de la soul is not relevant..Shhshhh ok where was I?) Says so? Subtly or otherwise
So to the elitist dudes, I pose a question, how can you sit there and continuously say hip-hop has died? Then in the same breath say "I'm not saying all hip-hop is bad but"..but what CHUMP? Quit endlessly bitching and PROMOTE the artists you think deserve a mention or are staying true to the art while evolving with times..Instead of making it about the art cats stay making it about their own little feelings... to them I say a big F U you are the reason its dying and if I hear one more underground artist whining about another mainstream artist not having any skill I will pull my hair out my damn skull. Your speech is not the gospel. Here I am turned off by mainstream cats crying about being hated on then the place I least expect an artist to spit something different he goes on and "shocks" me.
To me it boils down to one thing balance thats why there are some good mainstream songs (not many though)!! uncork your butt you damn uptight waste of breath. I mean how do you even dedicate an iota of energy to crying about something dying? save it damn it. Instead of doing what is within your means, something to at least tackle the problem? If you have resources to promote artist being slept on. What's stopping you? the whinny gene?. Basically i agree with you, yeah sptting about jewelry blows, so is about possessions, trust me you underestimate the power if paying such cats no mind.

I encourage heads who are disappointed with the current trend make your voices heard, put heads on to other artists you think are nice/dope. That's one of the many ways cats are going to be to able to build, look at it as an alternative to what's happening in the mainstream circles. LETS BUILD!!!!

oh btw they contributed to Gorillaz's 'Feel Good Inc' song, /the Ipod Ad song.I liked it till Radio destroyed it by playing it too much. The Gorillaz CD is not bad at all...
I do agree with you on building btw..uuu i almost got carried away there. Yani i enjoyed your rant- that cant be right can it?

I happened upon one of those haters the other day actually...with his fals-talgia and reminiscing about hip hop like he was there back in the day to even know anything about wat he was talking about...!
without change back then..hip hop would not have developed..now we continue the evolution and hopefully elevate further!

upon further review...msanii, I think dudes r frustrated by the current state of hiphop. A lot of nice acts out. Dela is definately eternal, Common has been on heavy rotation whenever I navigate the beltway to name a few but look at what the media is feedin us on! Hiphop can never be dead, takes more to kill a culture but to the naked eye, its like we are on 3rd and long on our own half.
