Yes yes..been a minute since I blogged but I'm back and this time around i stumbled upon this on one of my fav audio blogs, Big LA. Something that I feel surely deserves a blog of its own...
If you are not too big on cats re-mixing records which in most cases are not official, then you will probably sleep on this, a craze advanced by one of my fav producers, 9th wonder when he remixed the entire God Son(Nas) album and put it out as God Stepson ( my boy izz and I were bugging out when we first heard this unofficial album) , the follwing the trend picked up to an almost sickening level to most people, that is when everyone and their mama wanted to do black album remix (atleast 9th parlyed it into a production credit in the actual album) only a handful stood out, but thats something for another day
Cookin' soul is name of this trio of talented producers/dee-jays straight out of Valencia, Spain, that drop so much Soul with their productions it ain't funny, they made 'ante-up' so soulful but it still maintains the raw edge . I mean anyone who can make a Garbage unit(G-unit), sound listenable is pretty much oozing with talent. Lucky for all you penny pinchers(nah BB I ain't talking about you..he he he). they have two free mixtapes on their website so make sure ya'll peep that. This has been pretty much what I have been listening through out most of last week and the weekend without breaks, their beats give Big L tracks a new lease on life, the snippets on the end of songs are dope as well, from mostly underground favs to a couple of mainstream jams the trio impressed me. Though they absolutely made me HYPE when i listened to Nas' 'Second Childhood' off 'Stillmatic' althought they did not change a lot in that 'Jones Girls' sample they abosultely freaked and mashed it well with Nas' vocals. It was neither a drop off from the orginal matter fact I think its a little better, nah actually I love it

welcome back. Mp3 is nice, still listening...reminds me of the verve remixed R&B, was going to check it out..though this sounds tighter!
