So I'm chillin in the place I call an office pretending to work, going through email and getting at fam on google chat(best thing ever invented ok maybe not ever), so family lets me know some cats who get on the mic and talk over beats(get a flow you sucka) and are hard at the business claiming not to be 'local'.... now are all of sudden shit talking about good ol' hip hop(apparently its supposed to be American only you cannot express youself unless you one too) now generally if its cat doing benga, I would see it and NOT get heated after all its just music(hip hop ain't), reggea yes, bluegrass off course, Country sure, a genre birthed off a diss(kapuka) maybe. So links are pasted and we are off to read...here is part of the interview that got a Kneegrow heated, watch out for the mad blogger...lol

CV: You have never featured at hip hop night.
That is not our (Genge artists) way. The problem with the hip-hop guys is, na siogopi kusema (I’m not afraid to say) they copy the way it is done in the US.
All they do are teases, use abusive language and fake accents .

CV: Is it therefore possible to do Genge in English?
Absolutely no way. That will be another genre which you will have to tell us the name.

CV: Calif is the home of Genge. Wawesh comes from Calif, are we justified to say he does Genge music? That is not Genge. Unless you keep it on the streets, use sheng and sing about things people, especially the common man can relate to then that is not Genge. Maybe Wawesh himself would be in a better position to tell us what kind of music he does.

lol ..expressing yourself in anyother language constituing a difference, that is no genre, thank god its exclusionist door must be written "wack allowed only" bwehehehe..

didn't the same whatshis face try to Freestyle on BBC with Edu? (I guess this genre co-opts some hip hop aspects)

clearly he does not know the half... I mean isn't that bastardized "genre" the same thing with rap only that they SUCK at it so bad they talk over beats?, yet the insist on it being different? aside from them having no flow at all 'genge' is an emcee killing the mic(and I don't mean this in a good way), with even substandard lyrics....wait substandard is being kind. and not to mention the other practioner of the vile practice( I said I was heated..lol). No whatshisface has the nerve to say "if it was not for him and this cat "RAP" would be dead(does anyone else see the irony), if you are not emceeing how the hell do you save it then? buncha suckas, Kshaka and k-south birthed you muhfuckas...they made it cool to spit or (talk over beats) in sheng/swa..kiss the damn ring, pay respects.... you disrepectful bastids. Well that got me heated plus some cat over at the ukoo guestbook dissing UFMM...

Well its beautiful day today...shining, humid as hell just perfect summer day, to top it all of , I managed to get my hands on one of the CD's I was looking forward to all year 'Dandora Burning' its safe to say this cd is going to be the stand out for me this year, beats bang hard, for a cat, Chiz n' Brain who is in K.E. out of Andaki studios he is right up there, when it comes to beatmaking ..sample laden "YOU", 'Mashairi' is nice as well, prolly up that video on my next post.., 'mau mau warfare', flute induced 'mazishi ya polisi' , 'tafsiri yale'. The whole CD is dope especially if you are big on hip hop sans the language(the vibe is right trust me), a collection of wordsmiths who know their craft, plus vitu mbaya aka Jonni..had the one of the most sickest verses 'usiticonfuse na ile jeshi ya genge hapana'... lyrically though there some let downs but the production does a great job of masking it...look out for proper reveiew.

WC is over, hoop season is on for me, rather has been on going. We have lost a couple and played horrible in the last loss too, maybe we just too old to be playing with the young'ns.

AOB

Got Mwaf presents muki garang the mixtape...if ya want it hit me up(Official bootleg-a man)...
Also apologies on that bamboo , will up it over the weekend..

I do feel you that some Kenyan "rappers" feel that they have given so much to the game when in effect they have done so little.K-shaka and K-south are rarely given credit for their hard work by some of these young guns.
I think when these dudes stop making party anthems and make real tracks is when they'll get some respect!
Have fun on the court!

Feeling this Msanii!! You said it loud & clear: Give credit where credit is due.

Btw, someone else we often ignore and ridicule yet he kicked in the door for most folks is Hardstone. I've been planning a young tribute music and vid combo with one of his new tracks. He's a kool dude regardless.

@ Anon, I see Ice Cube's latest release left a mark on you too.

Motherfuckers is full of shit...this bitch we all know who...tried to rhyme in English and it sounded like a still born baby hurling curses at its bearer with the head still stuck in the canal...the canal he should peep in and get to observe on the implications of being a hiphop kid...full culture..vocal on contentious issues..overstanding the systems bull and if you are a wordsmith then MC your thoughts to the public...the culture that embraces both the subtle and harsh realities of life....I mean fuck you! what the fuck is "Genge"? ask me, i know what "Bango" is...thats some music from down coast Mombasa...where cats got the taarab type of singing and its laced with the sax...and they admit to borrowing from JAZZ..who the fuck are you? saying you birthed a genre...somebody get these bitches off my.. please...please...I know them both fuck it Nonini and Jua Cali approached me with a deal..since i was working in an ISP..telling me to create 100 emails adds all different in order to request for their songs on 98.4 Capital Fm and what used to be 96.4 Nation Fm now EASY...i declined the offer...bullshit..if thats what you have of what was a debut...you should be so ashamed of yourselves...redeem yourselves lost souls, Join Aguilera's dance team..motherfuckers!
