Yahssss!
Been a minute since I blogged, reasons ranging from bumming, A Girl(yeah mayne a sista got bruh twisted up), hectic schedule..blah blah sound good but just been plain old blog lazy. Either way had great weekend. Went down to New England. Fam Shida Mingi( Staccato,G-ni Ya'll Handled ya Biasha-ra! ) had a perfomance..a first unofficially they were opening for one of the sickest when he decides to put it down Bamboo.
I have been to one or two Kenyan concerts before, sound is always terrible, cats have to share mics(wtf) but this was dope, the sound was proper they kept it hip hop( they had their 'own' DJ) not to mention an improptu perfomance by Mdabu(Round hii, Round hii) and Owen(Cat kilt that 'still tipping' instru and to think they were about to freeze him!!!). Their line up was a crazy mix...they paid Homage to the Gods(Kshaka) with 'all over the world', 'hii beat' and finished that part with the classic 'tafsiri' , then they played their selections. Bamboo also came thru, dropped his regular tracks and then murdered it with new material " I don't excpect CNN to ever say shit/So we gonna be them breaking news cats that do it for the basement/ we gonna let that rapper Jin be Connie Chung's replacement" and crazy ass swahili drop. They kicked it oh so HIP HOP.
African hip hop radio got a new show make sure ya skate over to this link and peep. Mamaland hip hop at its finest .... New show. X-plastaz!, Fid Q, hashim(will drop a free of his on upcoming podcast)
Also been spending time working/doing the beneath the surface website. My pepos and me tryna see if we can get Kenyan/African heads to grow and build together. Heads support, support and build, build BNTS

Sound is definitely a concern at these Kenyan concerts. I'm surprised you lauded Bostonian crews coz in my experience they try to go cheap ergo - get the cheapest sound system, the cheapest performance venue and still charge as much. Guess things change huh? Glad to hear something positive.
Don't know how much you know about Shida Mingi but when are they dropping an album or a single for the airwaves? Is Sean Basic still in it? Word on the street though is Ms. Tryflyn's album is dropping April 19th. (if you know her).
OK won't blog on your blog anymore..LOL. Bamboo's West Coast performance was overshadowed by Nameless'. We need more showmanship from him, atleast that's what I think.

@Magaidi ..i agree about the sound part. this was different too. and it was only $10 to get in, though we didn't pay...lol part of entourage. Shida Mingi is fam, the currently tryna work on the mixtape but i have some tracks on the podcast and radioblogs on site. 'Tuliza Homie' is a crowd favorite, SB is Shida Mingi no more Reliable sources tell me. I heard about that Ms. tryflyn album drop. btw bamboo did really come thru..if the crowds responds to you(emcee) the perfomance is bound to be lively some cats in the crowd we spouting off his lyrics and the rest of us were hands up in the air. But the opening acts set it up for him good. ain't no prob about bloggin on the blog

Anyone is passionate 'bout HipHop would be expected to live with fact that Bamboo aint no Player no more! Dude was ill back in the dayz but now?
